Lamas from Ladakh visit Tawang
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: Fifteen selected Lamas from various monasteries in Ladakh visited Tawang recently.
The Lamas, during their two days stay at Tawang, visited Tawang Monastery, Urgeling Gompa, the birth place of sixth Dalai Lama, Khinmay Gompa and Gorsam Chorten and interacted with the Lamas of those Monasteries and local people.
The visiting Lamas were awestruck by the magnificence of the Tawang War Memorial. They also got an opportunity to interact with Commander Tawang Brigade and Tawang deputy commissioner Abhishek Dev.
The trip was arranged by Indian Army under "Operation Sadhbhavna."

Social service cum drugs abuse awareness campaign
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: All Arunachal Pradesh Diploma Holders in Elementary Education Association (AAPDHEEA) organized a social service cum drugs abuse awareness campaign at GHSS, Seppa and Govt. ME School Type II yesterday.
While explaining the harmful effects of drugs/substance abuse and its consequences, the president of the association and his team members advised the students to abstain from using drugs. They asked the students to be sincere in their study and respect their teachers.

Tree plantation drive at DBC
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: A tree plantation programme was organized at Don Bosco College campus, Jollang under the initiative of two NSS units of the college today.
The plantation aimed at creating public awareness of the need to preserve our environment and also to beautify the college campus. About 300 NSS volunteers and students of the college turned up for plantation programme.
Jollang ASM Biri Rupa, who led the drive, planted the first sapling. Tamang Anthony and Tana Rich, GPMs of Daath and Hodka villages under Jollang Panchayat and all other invited guests planted a sapling each.
Later, the NSS volunteers and the students erected bamboo fence to protect the young seedlings.

BJP holds meet on encroachment and eviction drive issue
ITANAGAR, Sept 22: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Arunachal Pradesh unit in a meeting yesterday discussed about public hue and cry over the ongoing eviction drive carried out by the administration allegedly on 'pick and chose' basis.
The meeting also took strong exception to the massive encroachments of government land, quarters within capital complex and in other district headquarters and held the ruling Congress Government's lack of proper policy and town planning responsible for such rampant encroachment.

He spoke in details about the causes TB and its preventive measures and treatment of TB patients under directly observed treatment (DOT).
Informing that tuberculosis (TB) is a curable disease, Dr. Perme said that a TB patients must take medicines for a minimum period of six months to kill the germs. The patients may feel healthy after taking DOTS medicine for a month, but if the course is not completed, TB germs remain in the patients' lungs and continue to spread the disease," he said.
During medication period the person should avoid consuming alcohol, cigarette, chewing tobacco, pan, etc., he said.
TB mainly affects the lungs; but it can also affect other parts of the body such as brain, bones, glands, intestine, etc. The commonest form of TB is pulmonary TB which affects the lungs and is highly communicable. TB germs spread through air, he said and added that when a patient with Pulmonary TB coughs or sneezes TB germs are spread in the air in the form of tiny droplets.

Make learning system appealing
According to Union HRD minister 230 million children have been enrolled in schools ever since the Right to Education came into force. "Ever since the introduction of the Right to Education Act, which gives a fundamental right to every child in this country, in the last three years, we have enrolled a substantial number of children, brought them back to school. As a result, we have 230 million in schools today," the minister said recently. Now, according to Govt, the focused has been shifted to meaningful learning outcome.
Though enrollment of school children increased, the RTE appears to have failed in policy making to make the learning process attractive with sufficient infrastructure.
According to a report, around 1.28 lakh out of 10,75,407 government elementary schools across the country still don't have toilets and over 61,000 lack drinking water facilities.
According to the District Information System for Education 2011-
As per the provisions of the RTE Act, which came into effect in 2010, schools have to provide separate toilets for boys and girls and safe and adequate drinking water facility for all children.

We can not deny the fact that many steps are being taken to bring large number of children under the ambit education as the education leads to perfection. But there should be synergies in Govt policy and planning so that school children enjoy the learning instead of feeling it mere obligation.

This is with reference to news item “CCLAPF calls on CS, urges for revocation of Order” published in your esteemed daily on 21/09/2013, wherein the “Capital Complex Land Affected Peoples’ Forum” (CCLAPF) and “All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union” (AAPSU) have questioned the soundness of Order No. DAP/PEN/3/2001/561 Dtd. 17/06/2013 concerning the need for obtaining the NOC from concerned DC or the Estate Office by the Govt. employees for settling their retirement dues or for promotion in the services.
Lest anyone should question my intention for writing this letter, I would like to clarify in the very outset that I don’t have any plot in the Capital Complex, so obviously doesn’t have any personal issue with the eviction drive or for that matter the encroachment cases that is creating so much hullabaloo lately. But after reading the above news published in your esteemed daily, my curiosity got the better of me, and I managed to collect the said Order from one of my acquaintances.
After going through it in detail; very honestly speaking, I found the said Order deficient in the sense that it only mentions about the Govt. employees. It is understood that in present land encroachment imbroglio, all sections of people are involved, be it be the Govt. employees or the politicians, businessmen, etc. And CCLAPF and AAPSU have very correctly pointed out that insofar as land encroachment cases are concerned, a separate Act called, “The Arunachal Pradesh Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorized Occupants) Act, 2003” is very much in existence to deal with the encroachers appropriately, and as per as day to day conducts of the Govt. employees are concerned, the CCS (Conduct) Rules is there to take care of it. Over and above the said Act and Rules, if any new Rules, criteria, etc. are to be promulgated, then it should be uniformly applicable to all. Why only target the Govt. employees? If the Govt. employees are to obtain NOC regarding any pending land encroachment cases from the concerned DCs or the Estate Officer for settling their retirement dues or for promotion in the services, then let the politicians also obtain the similar NOC from the concerned DC or the Estate Officer before filling of their nomination papers for any elections henceforth. And similarly, let all the businessmen also obtain the same NOC before renewing their Trading Licenses, so on and so forth. Law, I suppose, should be equal for all.

Are rules framed only for poor people?

On 21st Sept 2013, at around 9.15 AM, while I was driving back towards Doimukh from Itanagar on reaching at Pachln Bridge few Scorpio, SUV's vehicles having red light overtook my vehicle. I was driving in a normal speed by following all traffic rules. When I reach at the tri junction point near KV No. 1, I saw wonderful things that the vehicles of policy makers were breaching all the traffic rules and breaking their own made rules by not following the traffic rules.
The speeding vehicles coming from Itanagar side has to keep left while turning the tri junction, but, I saw there that all the mentioned vehicles turned their vehicles towards Naharlagun from the right hand side by violating the traffic rules, This particular junction is one of the busiest portion of the NH52A as the students of KV No. 1 used to cross this road to reach their classes. Due to their mischief the whole traffic system on the said portion of the road become uncontrolled as the vehicles which were at the back of those VIP vehicles also followed them to cross the road from the right side and a long traffic jam was witnessed by all.
Whoever common public which witnessed the scene got enough chance to wonder whether the rules made by the policy makers are only applicable to common people? The rules made by them are not applicable to law makers? Do drivers of VIP have the basic traffic knowledge that whenever we walk or drive on the road we must keep left, which is even known by a pupil of LKG/UKG standard? As we learnt in our school days that rules are made for whole society and not for a particular section of the society.
Therefore, through your esteemed daily, I would like to request the policy makers to review and remember the rules which were framed by them and give some time for their drivers to learn basic traffic rules if they had not obtained the same prior to getting the driving license.

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed mouth piece, the most popular and most read column among all dailies in the state, I want to throw some light on the willful distortion of our tribal words, nomenclatures, places and the very meaning of depicting the issues or motives by the non Indigenous people and Organizations.
While traversing through the NH 52 at Pasighat areas, you will see illuminated sign boards on the bridges of almost all the rivers by writing them in Adi dialect. The move is a welcome step, but the willful distortion of the words to mean the real meaning is very frustrating and even agonizing.
In all the bridges, you will get to see a sign board written “KORANG" in place of KORONG.
Korong is the correct word, spelling and pronunciation to depict and mean a river in Adi. But KORANG does not mean a river, a bridge, a culvert or anything in Adi dialect save, for the name of a village Korang in the Ramle Banggo area.
Now, if I write RUM Mandir, in place of RAM Mandir, it will never mean a RAM Mandir and I believe it might even intimidate and agonize some Hindu Fanatics like the way it makes me feel in being an Adi Patriot.
So, in the fittest of all things, I request the BRO/GREF not to make a joke of the tribal dialects by showcasing them on the roads and above all misrepresenting it, where all domestic and foreign tourists/visitors see it and take away with them, a word which is not dialect or which does not bear any meaning anywhere or even spoken by anyone in the way they write on the walls for everyone to take notice.
Directing the issue straightly to the Chief Engineer Project Brahmank, with the Headquarters at GTC Pasighat, I request him not to commit any further demeaning acts rather insults to the sentiments of the Adis, the Indigenous Peoples residing at Pasighat and its adjoining areas. If you ever have anything to write in Adi Dialect, you can consult any Adi Person before you commit a mistake which will hurt the sentiments of the locals or if that is an act cumbersome for you, I am just your neighbour residing some 30 meters away from your Office.
Until then I surely believe that no one will ever read and take "SIBU SANGKOR" as SHIVA SHANKAR.

Construct new bridge at Chandranagar
Dear Editor,
There is an urgent need for an alternate bridge over Senki River at ChandanNagar as citizens are facing lots of problem during office and evening hours. The bridge should be widened or alternate one should be constructed. Citizens had to wait for hours in traffic jam as two small vehicles cannot cross smoothly at the same through this bridge due to its limited breadth. As Itanagar is expanding, the population living in far flung places Poma, Jote, Chimpu, Gohpur, travel on daily basis to capital for daily requirements using this bridge. It is the only bridge which connects these residential areas to central Itanagar but due to its small breadth it is creating havoc. So, there is a need for the authority and concerned departments to sanction and construct an alternate widen bridge or plan to widen the existing bridge.

Education Department for releasing of more infrastructure development fund to Govt.
Maro Secondary school. The said school is facing multiple problems in terms of infrastructure
development and it needs urgent attention at the earliest. Following are some of
major problems-
1. There is no safety wall around school compound.
Because of it there is no difference between man and animal in class room as well as in school compound.
2. Renovate or construct new hostel-
